It was great to finally move out of the Bible school cafeteria into our new offices. We thank God for the wonderful Team of volunteers and staff members, and it was a real encouragement for all of us. Some of the activities that take place in the offices are answering correspondence, telephones, E-mail and Faxes. Preparing newsletters, brochures and all mailings. Plus the department handles banking, paying bills and all accounting. Located on the first floor of the Lighthouse is the strategic planning center. Equipped with maps, overhead, white boards this room is where we plan our evangelistic, missions and drama outreaches. How wonderful it is now to sit in the Lighthouse--which represents sending His light--as we pray, dream and make plans to fulfill God's desire to reach the Deaf souls around the world with the Good News. Help is available to those who need someone to share with. We can be reached through the phone/TTY, correspondence and E-mail. Many hearing organizations offer this outreach but are not equipped for the Deaf's needs. Now the Deaf can share their needs with someone who cares without communication barriers. This unique chapel is on the second floor of the Lighthouse. Staff, students and guests are welcome. This will be a special place without distractions where a person can be alone with God. |
The Retreat Center is open NOW for workers in Deaf ministry and their families we are ready for you. We only have a few rooms available but when the new ministry center is completed there will be eight bedrooms available for pastors and their families, as well as other workers in Deaf ministry at no cost to them. A place where they can come and be refreshed, encouraged, prayed with, receive counseling; a place where God can minister to them and they can receive a renewed vision to serve Jesus and the Deaf in their church and community. Most pastors in Deaf ministry are isolated and have no one to share with who understands the unique frustrations, struggles and joys of Deaf ministry. Many workers are frustrated, burnt out and ready to quit. That is why the Retreat Center is so important. Throughout the year we offer classes (one-week classes as well as week-end classes ) on subjects to help strengthen churches, and families. Some of the topics will include evangelism, marriage, leadership, worship, knowing God's will, being a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) plus much more. This will be an opportunity for both continuing education and refreshing in body, soul and spirit. It's also a great opportunity to fellowship with others from around the country. As soon as the new ministry center is completed, once a year we will provide a Pastors' School at no charge. This will be a great opportunity for pastors and their spouses to come together for renewal, recommitment, learning and sharing together. Special speakers will share on important topics related to Deaf ministry. |
