Springs Not There Yet
Despite over
eight inches of rain in May and June alone, Murray County continues
to be classified as either abnormally dry or in a moderate drought,
according to the National Weather Service office in Norman.
Neil Mayo, with the Murray County Emergency Management, reports
that in May he received 5.44 inches of rain along with 2.78 so
far in June. The Oklahoma Mesonet site northwest of Sulphur has
recorded 17.50 inches of rain so far this year. By comparison,
the site recorded only 26.69 inches of rain for the entire year
in 2012.

Springs in Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
