Spyware Information
Spyware can severely damage a computer. Spyware can be installed from websites with code to install programs without your knowledge,
from programs your may have downloaded (some programs may install others during their install process). These programs by definition once installed monitor information about your internet surfing and reports it back to various marketing companies.
The major problem with spyware (besides the privacy issues) is once it's on you pc it can cause slow-downs or disruptions in internet traffic due to it reporting to it's home company, it also generates popup windows with advertisements for various companies.
Some forms of spyware also cause different applications to crash and lockup or can even "take-over" your homepage by making it redirect to somewhere besides
where you want. Eventually with enough spyware installed and all trying to work at the same time your internet connection can become un-usable due to the amount of popups and, or the internet connection is performing too slowly due to all available bandwidth being used by the spyware.
