CARTER COUNTY EQUALIZATION BOARD

 

The Carter County Equalization Board met on April 1, 2009 at 1:30 PM in the Carter County Commissioners Board Room. The agenda for the meeting was time stamped March 31, 2009 at 9:50 AM in the County Clerk’s Office and can be seen Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The agenda was posted on the south door of the Carter County Commissioners Office in the Court House Annex.     

 

 The meeting was called to order by Sappington at 1:30 PM.  Roll Call:  Brown, absent – Sappington, present – Alexander, present.  The minutes were taken by Cynthia Harmon, Carter County Clerk.

 

Alexander made a motion to approve the agenda, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

The Manufacturers Ad Valorem Tax Exemption for East Jordan Iron Works, Valero Refining Company and Best Buy Stores were presented to the Board, signed by the Secretary and given back to the Assessor.

 

Three protests were presented to the Board from Huntington Falls Apartments, Healdton Properties and Mountain View Midstar LLC.  The protests will be scheduled to be heard on May 11, 2009.

 

Alexander made a motion to recess, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

The Carter County Equalization Board met on May 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Carter County Commissioners Board Room.  The agenda for the meeting was time stamped May 6, 2009 at 11:01 AM in the County Clerk’s Office and can be seen Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The agenda was posted on the south door of the Carter County Commissioners Office in the Court House Annex.

 

The meeting was called to order by Sappington at 2:00 PM.  Roll Call: Brown, absent – Sappington, present – Alexander, present.  The minutes were taken by Cynthia Harmon, Carter County Clerk.  Others present at the meeting were Curtis Yates, Daniel Shepard, Kim Cain, Donnie Collins and Jay Wallace.

 

Alexander made a motion to approve the agenda, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Alexander made a motion to approve the Manufacturer’s Ad Valorem Tax Exemptions for Carbonyx, Dot Foods and Dollar General, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Curtis Yates with Mountain View Midstar LLC stated his position as to why he felt the value on his property should be $5,800,000 and the assessor stated their case as to why they have the value of $7,677,889 on the property.

 

Daniel Shepard was there to represent Healdton Properties and Huntington Falls Apartments and he state his position as to why he felt the value for Healdton Properties should be $376,981 and the value for Huntington Falls should be $1,647,758 and the assessor state their case as to why the value is $499,958 for Healdton Properties and $2,142,575 for Huntington Falls Apartments.

 

The Board listened to all sides and advised that they would make a decision on May 29, 2009. 

 

Sappington made a motion to recess until May 29, 2009 unless other protests came in and needed to be heard, second by Alexander.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

The Carter County Equalization Board met on May 29, 2009 at 1:30 PM in the Carter County Commissioners Board Room.  The agenda for the meeting was time stamped May 28, 2009 at 9:48 AM in the County Clerk’s Office and can be seen Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The agenda was posted on the south door of the Carter County Commissioners Office in the Court House Annex.

 

The meeting was called to order by Sappington at 1:30 PM.  Roll Call: Brown, absent – Sappington, present – Alexander, present.  The minutes were taken by Cynthia Harmon, Carter County Clerk.  Others present at the meeting were Kim Cain and Donnie Collins.

 

Alexander made a motion to approve the agenda, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Sappington made a motion to sustain the current market value set by the Assessor for Mountain View Midstar LLC in the amount of $7, 677,889, second by Alexander.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Sappington made a motion to sustain the current market value set by the Assessor for Healdton Properties in the amount of $499,958, second by Alexander.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Alexander made a motion to sustain the current market value set by the Assessor for Huntington Falls Apartments in the amount of $2,142,575, second by Sappington.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.

 

Sappington made a motion to adjourn for the year, second by Alexander.  Vote:  Sappington, yes – Alexander, yes.
